VILLAGE OF HAMILTON, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – COVID 19 AND THE HAMILTON COMMUNITY
March 13, 2020
The Village of Hamilton is monitoring the rapidly evolving circumstances surrounding the COVID 19 pandemic. The Village’s highest priority is the safety and wellbeing of our residents, visitors and employees while also striving to maintain our commitment to the uninterrupted availability and delivery of public services. While as of the date of this posting no local cases of the virus have been identified, it is important that as a community we remain vigilant and prudent in the days ahead.
The Madison County Department of Health is very actively monitoring the spread of COVID 19, and is an excellent source of information to minimize your risk of contracting and/or spreading the virus. Please visit and monitor the County’s website at: https://www.madisoncounty.ny.gov/2479/Coronavirus-COVID-19
As you may already be aware, Colgate University has taken strong measures in an effort to impede the spread of the virus. To follow communications and measures being taken by the University, you can visit Colgate’s website at: https://www.colgate.edu/about/offices-centers-institutes/dean-college/student-health-services/covid-19-information-and
While at this time, the Village of Hamilton is not reducing services or enforcing any restrictions on access to public buildings, the Village does ask that everyone consider the health of our Village employees and choose alternatives to visiting the Village office and the Village courthouse. Bill payments can be made via the U.S. mail, our online utility payment platform, or simply left in the drop box at the front door at the Village office. If you simply have questions, you can call the Village office between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can also email the Village anytime through the email link on the Village website.
The Village is keenly aware of the significant economic impact of all the developments and actions related to this public health issue. Our local businesses are a critical part of our community, and the Village urges everyone to shop local whenever possible.
While the Village stands ready to take such further actions as may become prudent and/or necessary in the coming days, we recognize the degree of uncertainty that presently exists. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please do not hesitate to call or email the Village.
