The State of New York offers competitive incentive programs to help your business grow and expand. There are many tax credits and exemptions as well. Key incentives are highlighted below.

Hamilton’s Workforce

  • 8% growth in the workforce in the Town of Hamilton over last decade By 2016:
  • Greater Hamilton area labor force will grow by 10%, to 10,400 workers
  • The greater Hamilton area will account for about half of the total number of employees in the entire county
  • Workers holding at least an Associate’s degree will grow the most, by 19%
  • Workers holding a Graduate degree will grow by 21%
  • Village of Hamilton unemployment rate dropped by 8% in last decade and stood at 5.6% in 2010
  • Hamilton is a net importer of workers: 41% of the workforce commutes into the community. The average commute time is just 13 minutes and traffic is minimal.
  • Over two-thirds of Hamilton’s employed persons also live in Hamilton
  • Hamilton is and will continue to be an employment anchor for the region
  • Highly educated labor force
  • In the Village of Hamilton 57% hold at least a Bachelor’s degree (compare to 32% state-wide and 24% county-wide)
  • Educational Attainment, Ages 25+ in 2010

2010 American Community Survey

  • The Village labor force is highly educated, with those portions outside the Village but within the Town still outpacing the county and state rates. This means the Village trails other jurisdictions in all other category of educational attainment. 40.5% of Village residents hold a graduate degree, but that many Village residents are not college faculty. Colgate employs 275 faculty with a terminal degree; if all of them lived in the Village, which is not the case, it would represent 27.8% of Village residents 25 and older.
